Art is passed down from person to person, and the flame is forever burning
With the pure heart of Cantonese opera inheritance, Yuen Siu-fai has contributed all the knowledge, learning and ability in this life to the basic knowledge of life and practice taught by his ancestors and teachers, and never conceals the basic knowledge of Cantonese opera life, and explains in simple terms, whether it is singing, reading, doing, playing, teaching materials, basic skills of blankets, rules and taboos of opera, all the knowledge, learning and taboos in this life are very precious, so that those who are interested in the art of Cantonese opera, or those who are engaged in Cantonese opera education, can understand the truth, goodness and beauty of traditional Chinese Cantonese opera from the basic knowledge of Cantonese opera.
As part of the research project, led by Professor Leung Po-wah, Head of the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at The Education University of Hong Kong, the book was successfully published. The research project aims to enhance modern Cantonese opera education and is co-curated with Mr Yuen Siu-fai (BBS), Honorary Fellow of The Education University of Hong Kong and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong, Professor Mok Mo-ching, Chair Professor of Assessment and Evaluation and Director of the Evaluation Research Centre of the Department of Psychological Studies of The Education University of Hong Kong, and Professor Guo Bochen of Taichung National University of Education, Taiwan, to develop effective and high-quality multimedia teaching materials and learning tools for the teaching and transmission of traditional performing arts.
The last chapter of the book, "Reflections on Learning Art", is a lifelong effort of Ruan Shi to learn and exhort him in the future. The art of Cantonese opera is passed down from person to person, and it is deplorable that people die and art dies. Today's extraordinary action is just to find another way, to pass on the teachings of our ancestors to future generations, hoping that the youth will be better than the blue, and hope that the art of Cantonese opera will continue to live and pass on the torch forever.
